Foodles launches its service in the UK
As announced during our last fundraising, Foodles is launching in the UK! This launch is the second step of our European deployment, after Belgium in 2020. Building on our experience since 2016, the Foodles team now intends to conquer Londoners' lunch breaks. With a team of 5 employees already in place, Foodles will provide a sustainable food offer, adapted to British consumption habits and destined to evolve with the deployment and the needs of the market.
Foodles in London: a new step in an ambition to conquer Europe...
After Brussels in 2020, Foodles is coming to London.
In the planning for several months, and, made possible by the fundraising last September (€31M), this launch is now operational since the beginning of March and supported by a team of 4 people on site:
- Renaud Barnoin, General manager
- Antoine Pêtre, City Launcher
- Maxine Bradi, Executive Chef
- Louis Nordon, Head of product
A reinforcement of the staff is planned with the recruitment of about ten new employees during the year 2022.
The best of Foodles goes abroad
The key success factors of Foodles will also be offered to Londoners, namely :
- Innovative technology and connected fridges installed on site, in catering areas designed for each company;
- A mobile app allowing employees to know in real time the menus, but also to pre-order their meals for the next day;
- A daily delivery service; with food available around the clock
- But also and above all, a fresh, healthy, tailor-made and sustainable catering offer.
Committed to reducing its environmental impact as much as possible, and determined to deploy the most sustainable offer possible, Foodles will propose 100% reusable packaging for all its dishes.
Finally, and in order to best meet the expectations of the British people, the culinary offer will be adapted to local consumption habits and based on local products. Far from the traditional "starter, main course, dessert" trilogy typical of French habits, the London Foodles menus will be based on the key moments of the day: breakfast, lunch and snacks.
« Foodles is embarking on a new stage by opening in London in 2022. It is a great joy for all the teams to export our catering offer to this new market! The objective is to offer an increasingly responsible alternative to the traditional company canteen. With our recipes prepared by our local chefs, we want to create the ideal conditions for lunch breaks at work to be a healthy and convivial pleasure and to meet the new expectations of London's employees. The teams, as well as the offer, will evolve over the months. 20 people are currently being recruited for the sales, delivery and kitchen departments. We hope that this launch will be a first exercise before new openings in the regions and in another neighboring country. Who knows...", say Clément Bonhomme and Michaël Ormancey, co-CEOs and founders of Foodles.
...after a successful deployment in France
Combining the best of both worlds, that of the traditional canteen and food delivery, Foodles has undertaken, since 2020, a very strong acceleration of its geographical deployment: after its launch in Lille, Lyon, Reims, but also its deployment in the South-East region, Foodles is now present in no less than 20 cities in France.
To date, there are more than 300 fridges connected to more than 250 customers and no less than 25,000 employees who regularly eat Foodles' lunch!
The new business paradigms that have emerged from the pandemic (remoted working, shift in work/life balance) and the desire to "eat better" have reinforced the strong evolution of the catering model proposed by Foodles.
The team's ambition is to convince more and more companies, in France and in Europe, of the need to undertake a sustainable transformation of their catering services. A service that must now be able to meet the challenges of loyalty and well-being of all employees.
THEY TALK ABOUT IT!
"Compared with traditional canteens, Foodles’ connected fridges can reduce food waste by at least 10%, it claims, while its use of reusable containers means zero packaging waste." (The Grocer)
"Parisian scale-up Foodles has successfully entered the UK market to bring the tasty vittles to the workforce with the aim of transforming the way people dine at work." (Tech.eu)
